Hello everybody,

Most you already know that we only have to do three blogs so this is my final blog. YAY!!!!! Day eight we went to Hardwicke bay to help the ‘Older Community’. We worked with the progress council, weeding and watering the local reserves. Bella, Kate and I watered first. Although the trailer broke before hand and we all had to sit in the car while Bryan and another guy tried to fix it. They had to get all of these fancy tools out. It was also quite weird when the door to the car suddenly shut on me without anyone moving. ODD I know! To water each tinsy little Native shrub, three people needed to hold the hose. Very amusing. After we had finished all the weeding

(My back ached), the progress council made us some sandwiches of which I ate one but they also gave us ice-cream with fruit salad. When we left we went back to Wambana where we dropped off Kate and Brooke who were both going back home. We picked up our green bags and once again where off to Yorktown for Food shopping. We kind of went over budget but not by that much so we were lucky. I think we brought enough snacks for more that four days but I’m sure with Henrietta and Tashi’s huge appetites we will finish them all off. Even though we had a list we forgot the hamburger rolls. Which just by chance was the first item on the list. How good are we!!!

Tuesday started off with QUDDITCH. I was for all purposes Draco Malfoy, the syltherin seeker. It was excellent fun although neither Tori nor I caught the Snitch (Will and Josh). A few people didn’t follow the rules but it was still fun. In the morning we did ethics (my favourite subject) and we worked in our journals. For ethics we got to watch Simpsons.

We went to the beach in the afternoon but I just read. A few people went swimming and snorkelling but I was content to not get wet and sandy.

The past two day we went surfing with surf culture. We went to Berry bay on both days and the surf was so amazing.  Just swimming in the ocean is so different to surfing. It was more tiring fighting against the waves to get back out into the surf than actually surfing. To my amazement I stood up multiple times with and without help as well as I actually surf to the beach twice. I was so happy. The wetsuits were really tight and kept getting sand up in the legs. Very uncomfortable!!!!!

I’m really tired so I thought I would just put few random facts in here.

Kiasah go very excited about some sunglasses, we go to touch a sleepy lizard, Wednesday the weather was overcast and then today all we had was a few wispy clouds( a change is coming),w e had a Wardli meeting with Josh and had to bring up some very confronting issues( tsk, tsk Josh) and I got sunburnt on the face and my arms. It hurts but its not as bad as my burnt arm a few weeks ago.

Before I say goodbye and I’m coming home tomorrow I have to add that there is a fire approx 50 km from Pt Turton. As well as that the winds are forecast as being 80 kmph. It’s also stormy here after being really hot today.

Brigette (miss you heaps)

Days 8 and 9

Hi,

Last week here: Here’s what’s been happening.

Day 8: Monday

Today we went to Hardwicke Bay to do some weeding. We managed to do heaps in a couple of hours which we were all surprised at. They gave us sandwiches and ice cream which were delicious. We then went food shopping for the last time. As Kate had left we only had to buy for 4 people but we had less money. We were more sure of what we needed to buy this time but we went $20 over budget!! :P .

Day 9: Tuesday:

Today we did ethics with Ms. Arnfield and discussed the environmental problems of the world, past, present and future. To help us start our discussions we watched a few episodes of The Simpsons that were relevant. After lunch we went to the beach and either did beach activities, swimming, snorkelling or surfing. Only Bella and I went snorkelling with Will and we saw lots more fish and colourful things that would have been great to take photos of with a waterproof camera.

Missing everyone heaps

My ribs-

As I went through the ring of death, I smacked my ribs on a rock. As the water was so cold I didn’t actually fill this. Sunday night I woke up at about 4:30 in the morning- great time to wake up. I had this pain in my ribs, shoulder and all down my back. After a few days of it hurting really badly, Mrs. Arnfield took Kiasha (who had an allergic reaction) and I to the doctor.

The doctor, Adrian, was quite strange. He would always giggle; he turned the lights off, closed the blinds, pushed on my sore ribs and asked if it hurt and asked Kiasha where her headache was…Well her HEADache was in her head. Adrian said Kiasha just needed to rest and have panadole and I had strained my muscles.

After many long nights of waking up at 12, 2 and 4 in the morning and knocking on Josh and Kim’s Wardli at all ours of the night, I went to the doctors once again.

This doctor was so nice, although he chatted to himself a little too much… He pushed on my ribs once again, and it really really hurt. He then took Mrs. Arnfield and I to the hospital part of the medical centre, to take some x-rays.

He made me lie on my sore ribs and as I did, it hurt so much! I was so glad it was over and then he says to me ‘sorry I did it wrong we’re going to have to take this x-ray again.’ I’m thinking ‘oh god, please not another one,’ but we do it anyway.

After he makes the x-rays he comes out with one normal x-ray, a blank x-ray and an x-ray with a little bit of spine at the top and the rest blank.

The appointment resulted in him telling me I broke my ribs.

Highlights of this painful time-

1.)    Waking up Josh (sorry)

2.)    Me sleeping in the teachers lounge room, I thought I’d be by myself, but then Kim comes out with her mattress, doona and pillow and says ‘we’re going to have a sleepover.’- she’s to kind.

3.)    Watching Hannah Montana with Mrs. Arnfield, and her loving it!

4.)    The weird doctor.

5.)    Sleeping in a bean bag because, I can’t lie down.

Kim, Josh and Mrs. Arnfield if your reading this (which your probably are) I just want to say thankyou for looking after me.

Day 6:

This morning was our first sleep in and fry-up ever! Ahh, that extra hour of sleep was much needed, and I couldn’t wait to eat our pancakes with either melted chocolate or lemon and sugar.

Today we went snorkelling. We first had to get all the gear, before we started snorkelling. This included- cool wet suits, nerdy snorkels and big-ass flippers. My flippers did not fit at all. I had to wear reef walkers, just so my foot would actually stay in the flipper.

We headed off for our first destination, and once we got there we split into two groups. The first group was for people who had never snorkelled before, and the second was for more experienced snorkelers. I was in the more experienced one, and we got to go with the marine biologist (loved him.) As a group we had to choose a name for ourselves, we chose the best name – The Snorksperts.

We saw some amazing fish, sea urchins, algae and much much more. Izzy and I would snorkel together for most of it, because we were both scared of the sea monsters that would eat us. Bec and Henri they should snorkel for a living. They were so into it, and stayed in the water for ever, literally. Maddey asked to go to the toilet all the time, not even joking, she asked about 7 times (even though we were in the ocean.) Brooke, oh god Brooke, Izzy and I would be like ‘oh come see this cool fish.’ Brooke comes over her flippers kicking madly in the water. She would then pretty much stand on the sand, still kicking I might add, and by that time the fish was gone. Brooke, never realised this, instead would continuously ask ‘guys what is it? I can’t see it.’ – No duh Brooke, it got scared of your flippers. I still love her though.

After lunch we went to our next snorkelling spot. It smelt like absolutely disgusting, but we pushed through it and continued on into the sea-weedy water. Izzy and I once again snorkelled together, arm in arm and swam into the un-known. We were just floating along when we saw these massive grey fish swim past us. Concentrating on the fish, we didn’t realise right beside us was a stingray. We turn our heads and to our horror we see it. I frantically swim away, I was so scared.

It was time to go and we were all exhausted. We got home and couldn’t wait to get out in the heat, and have another chill out session- fun.

Night came, and to finish the day off we got to watch a presentation that the marine biologist prepared and ‘Finding Nemo’ Once again, suck it first group, we’ve watched two movies now.

Group 1 = 0 movies.

Group 2 = 2 movies.

Day 7:

Once again we got all our gear. It was time to set off to our final snorkelling destination. We got there and the scenery was so pretty. I pretended to be a mermaid for a while, well not pretended, I am a mermaid, seriously guys.

We started snorkelling and it was nice and deep and it was clear and sandy. All of a sudden, it got really shallow and we were snorkelling on seaweed, centimetres away from us, and you couldn’t see anything. I swam as fast as I could. We then got more scared, as Will (Toby Barnfield) decided to tell us stingrays like to lie on the top of the seaweed. And as we swam over the shallow waters … We saw so many stingrays and eagle rays. I couldn’t go any further I was so scared. Izzy, Alisa and I decided to stand on a rock, and then we saw dolphins, which calmed us down. Then a single dolphin or shark, swam towards us, we kinda started freaking out and then all of a sudden it was getting attacked or catching something. This made us scared enough to want to go back. So a whole group of us decided to go back, but before we did we went through this rocky arch – which I now call the ring of death.

We then swam in, as fast as our legs would take us.

Night consisted of chill out time- me wondering around talking to Simone and Shirley and Henrietta and I failing to cook a roast – ended up tasting really bad.

See everyone soon,

Tashi xxxx

surfing

Hey hey everyone it’s Lizy probably for the last time…

It may not be the last time however… there are some bushfires and although they aren’t near us, they are in Curramulka, which is about 50km from here. The winds are blowing SW and we are SE from there so we will be fine, although it just depends whether the roads are cut off or not. Kim thinks that we will be home at some stage tomorrow, it just may be a little later than expected.

Yesterday and today have probably been the most exhausting, exiting, crazy and awesome days yet. We spent all day yesterday and most of the day today surfing. :) . We had so much fun watching each other stack it (I even managed a mid-air cartwheel) and dancing while surfing. Also Jack, last week the yr 11 Saints girls were there and apparently Courtney and Emma were really good and Olympia had four totally unrelated photos of her that looked like she was doing the YMCA!! Anyway it was so, so, so much fun and we have all been sunkissed!

Can’t wait to see you all tomorrow hopefully, by the way, the photo is us ready to go for surfing :)

Love Lizy

Hello mum, dad, friends and family

I cannot believe that we are going home tomorrow! It went by so fast. Can’t wait to see all your faces and hear your voices!

On Wednesday we had another 3.3km run. I am walking with Ashleen most of the time and she has told me a lot about The Phantom of the Opera. Really interesting, I think I might watch it when I get back.
Wednesday was our first day of surfing. We went to Berry Bay and the waves went really big, especially in the afternoon. The wet suits are really tight, but once you get into the water they were okay, and the water was really cold, but the wetsuits made it easier. After a long day at the beach, we had chill out time and then we had dinner. We had lasagne, it was funny because it looked cooked, but once we ate it, the pasta was hard. It was funny, but it was still nice; the meat was good. We saw some photos of all of us surfing, they we hilarious. Especially this one photo of Brigette surfing at Bella got in the way and it looked like Brigette was surfing on her head. We also watched a surfing DVD called Solid and it showed all the men that were surfing a wave called Teahupoo. I’m serious, the waved here absolutely HUGE. I can’t believe those guys wanted to surf on that wave!

Today for fitness we played Base 50-50. That was really fun.

We got ready for another day of surfing, but I didn’t go in because I woke up this morning and was so sore. My arms, shoulders and neck were killing me. It really hurt to stretch up. But its not so bad now. I just played cards with Simone, Kiasah, Meena and Ashleen. I taught them to play Scumbags! That was funny and we played Cheat. That was also funny; especially when it was just Simone and me left playing!

We got back and we had an hour and a half of free time; I spent it finishing my journal.

We just had dinner and we had enchiladas. They were delicious!

We also said goodbye to the Nana’s, I’ll miss them. And we also wrote a message to the next Wardli 5 members, I got a picture!

Well I have to go

See you all tomorrow
mum and dad, I love you heaps and can’t wait to see you tomorrow!

See you guys

Day 9

Tuesday, we did ethics which was fun because we got to watch Simpsons. we talked about the environment  and what we can do e.c.t. it was really interesting. We then went and had lunch and then  went to the beach ands every one did there own thing Tori and I went snorkelling with Will we saw a bit but it was rally funny because Will spent like 30 min trying to get a crab which ran away in the end. It was so funny. It took a lot out o me because the waves were strong and we had to keep swimming to make sure we didn’t get pushed into the rocks. And then got back and did normal routine and then went to bad.

Love you all

Yesterday we had the 3.3km jog for fitness. We then had breakfast and made lunch. Simone and Shirley taught me how to make sushi! After that, we went surfing. It was really cold! I got a new wetsuit, because I was the smallest person there. I was very happy! :) I had to take off my glasses, and couldn’t see very much during surfing.  It took a lot of practice to learn how to catch waves in the first place, and I didn’t even bother to consider standing on the board until much later. I was really tired and tanned by the time it was lunch.

After hastily eating lunch and reapplying sunscreen, we went back in the water. This time, I caught a wave and rode it right to shore. I didn’t even stumble at the very end! I was very proud of myself. After surfing, we went back to our wardli. After a warm shower, I went for chill out. We had ‘bangers and mash’ for dinner. It took me a while to work out what bangers are. Apparently they are sausages. After dinner and clean up, I invented a game which was based on bouncing tea towels off the bench and into another person’s hands. We checked that the nannas were not around, then Emma and I started playing the tea towel game. It was so entertaining that Sophie and Ashleen soon joined in. We had to wash the tea towels when we were finished.

We watched a movie about surfing during the evening session. After that, we went to bed.

Today we got up and played 44 homes for fitness. It was lots of fun! I only got tagged twice, both times by Izzy. After breakfast, we left for surfing at 8.30. This time, I stood up on the surfboard once! I got on my knees about 5-6 times. It was awesome! I got lots of sunburn, and my skin stung alot, so I played cards with Simone, Ashleen and Chrissy instead of going surfing. We played BS and Scumbags. I’d never played scumbags before, and had only played BS once, but I didn’t lose either game. I even won BS! My card game playing skills have greatly improved on this camp.

On the bus, I coated myself with aloevera cream, which stung even more, but my burns are starting to go away. I had a shower and ate during free time. Then Emma and I discussed the grammatical properties of swear words. I learnt a lot. There were bushfires further up in the Yorke Peninsula, and there are strong wind warnings in Wambana. The bus could be delayed a bit, but probably won’t be.

Tomorrow we are packing in the morning, then coming home! I actually can’t wait!

See you all soon!

Sup Y’all!

The past two days have been pretty fun! SURFING! But I’ll talk you through it one day at a time – and there’s also some pretty interesting stuff going around these parts but we’ll get to that later too.

Yesterday we began with another fitness run but I was very proud because I beat my last time by about two minutes finishing in 20:12 minutes. Call me a wuss now why don’t you Nick?

Anyway, after that we went surfing for the whole day, which was pretty fun. I was able to stand up on the surfboard so I think that that’s an excellent achievement on my behalf. Nothing particularly interesting happened throughout that day though because we were surfing, you know?

For dinner we had yummo hamburgers and another extremely, ummm…, interesting? Wardli meeting – you would’ve laughed if you’d been there. Trust me. After dinner we watched ‘hardcore’ surfing videos and look at the pictures of our much, much more hardcore surfing.

Today we played Base 50/50 for fitness and then went surfing for the day afterwards again but I progressed even more! I can now sort of ride a wave and not fall off!!!!! Unbelievable, no? I was very proud of myself and spent the second half of the day racing waves with B2 and Ashley. Good times.

This afternoon the party wardli had a pretty surprising bit of news – Tashi broke two of her ribs!!!! Her ribs have been hurting for a few days now and the first time she went to the doctor he just gave her a bit of cream but she went to a different one today and they took an x-ray and she’s broken two of her ribs!!! – I mean, what are the chances? She thinks she did it while snorkelling because the water would’ve numbed her body and she wouldn’t have felt it as badly. Yeah, so that’s interesting.

I am now writing my blog but as you may have heard there are fires in Curramulka, which is where we have to pass through to get home so it’s a bit topsy turvy on weather we’re going home tomorrow on time or wether we’re going home at all tomorrow! Pretty scary, right? There is also meant to be a MASSIVE storm coming up so we’ve has to move everything into our Wardli (The party wardli!) So it’s been quite a interesting afternoon, I must say.

I’m going to upload some photos with this blog because I have to for my IT, so enjoy :)

Love you all and miss you all.
